Sterling Bank is owned by the JTKC Group of companies, Surewell and Star Equities. The group deals with different businesses such as real estate, resort and hotel properties, manufacturing, logistics, and finance.

The Bank was started in 2007 with an aim of it supporting and growing small and medium enterprises. Sterling bank has grown over the years and it was ranked the 5th among 67 thrift banks in total deposits. Also, it was ranked the 6th in total assets in the category. The bank has now opened 47 branches throughout the country.


History of the Sterling Bank

Sterling Bank was established through a mandate that was given by the local government. The objective of establishing the institution was to develop small businesses in the country. This was a move done by the local authorities so that the young entrepreneurs would grow their business. Through the business growth there is creation of employment opportunities. This later led to an increase in GDP.

The Bank is primarily owned by JTKC Equities, Inc., Surewell Equities, Inc. and Star Equities, Inc. JTKC Group includes, among others, Discovery Leisure Company, Mansion Group, TKC Steel, Coal Asia Holdings, Inc., JTKC Land, Inc. Kent Floor, Inc. and iRemit. Surewell Equities, Inc. On the other hand, it is a holding company with interests in various companies, including Confed Properties, Inc., I-Remit Inc., Flexi-Woods, Inc., Banwood Construction Center and Six Alps. Corp.
